Well, here is the last post in my miniseries for spring 2016 trends. After my post about off-the-shoulder tops, and then lace-up shoes, I wanted to do a roundup post this week covering the other major trends I’ve seen for spring this year so far. And, since it’s the middle of April and it f i n a l l y is feeling like spring here, it was especially easy to find lots of fun new trends! Here are a few of the biggest ones:
- Gingham
I did not see this one coming- gingham has been reserved for men’s and boy’s dress shirts, but not it’s back in style for women. The crisp and clean squares give an overall young and fresh vibe.
- Rompers
Rompers were in style 6-8 years ago and then faded away, but now they’re back in a big way. With so many options (and most of them loose and comfortable), they’re easy to dress up or down.
- Overalls
…this is one of those trends I am not a fan of (are overalls ever flattering on anyone over the age of 15?), but it’s out there so I’ll include it and let you come to your own personal conclusions about it. 🙂
- Embroidery
Delicately intricate, embroidery can be seen on a variety of tops, dresses, skirts and even shorts this season. It provides a classic feminine look and adds interest to even the most basic silhouettes.
- Block Heels
These are almost as popular as the lace-up shoes I previously blogged about. There’s such a huge variety of them available, you’re sure to find a pair you love. They also provide more stability than stilettos.
- Open-toed Mules
Brady Bunch, anyone? Open-toed Mules are a fun way to dress up a sundress and are also an open-back heel to wear that should stay on securely.
**Also, in case you didn’t catch it on my Instagram yesterday, I’m teaching a sewing class for children at Dabble and Stitch on May 14! By the end of the class they will have made a bag just like this one. If you know of any children in the Columbus area who want to learn how to sew, go to Dabble and Stitch for supply details and to sign up!

Seriously though, why are overalls still going strong? I have never and will never see the appeal… Smh. Great post, though! 😍
