Spring 2016 Trend: Off The Shoulder

Starting this Sunday, spring will finally be here! One of my favorite things about this time of year, besides the warmer temperatures, obviously (although it’s supposed to snow here tomorrow…) is all the new styles that come out each year and give me a reason to freshen up my wardrobe. Instead of one large spring style post, to start out, I’m going to do smaller posts, each with a spotlight on a specific trend for spring this year.

This week’s post was easy, because it’s about the biggest trend I’m seeing this season: off-the-shoulder tops (and dresses). This also includes cold shoulder tops too – basically, tops that bare the shoulders but also have some sort of sleeve. Personally, I love this trend because I think it adds a classic feminine look and can dress up any outfit. You could wear an off-the-shoulder dress to work with a blazer and then remove the blazer later when you go out to dinner for a completely different look. Here are some of my favorites:

The Classic Trench

Just wanted to share a short post this week about a piece that’s an icon each spring, year after year: the trench coat. The trench coat is a closet staple because each year it’s back in style – with variations in exact color and style, but the same classic trench coat that looks good on any woman. Here are a few of my favorites for spring 2016 (including a vest!).

Red Carpet Review: The Oscars 2016

By now, since it’s been five days since the Oscars, you’ve probably already seen what everyone wore and picked out your favorites. Well, here are a few of mine! There were definitely hits and misses this year, as always, but overall I loved most of what I saw – elegance, formality, femininity and glitz with a hint of glam.

My favorite – a three way tie.  I couldn’t decide between Jennifer Garner, Reese Witherspoon or Louise Roe- so I picked all three!

The gown’s neckline was a gorgeous combination: off the shoulder elegance and sweetheart sparkles.

The softly draped side accent complemented the soft peach color perfectly.

Have I ever not liked what Reese wears on the red carpet? (Answer:no). I love the structure and the movement that this “simple” gown presents.
