Happy 2016, friends! I took a break from blogging during most of December due to all the (good) craziness that the holiday season brought and also in part because of (not-so-good) writer’s block. Both of those reasons have passed, however, and I’m excited for a new year of blogging.
Most magazine covers this time of year read something along the lines of “New Year, New You!” While I am all for setting healthy and achievable new year’s resolutions for self-improvement, the idea of becoming a different and “better” person when the clock hits midnight each year is simply unrealistic. So, this blog post is a reflection of one aspect of new year’s resolutions that I look forward to at the beginning of each year – new ways to refresh and spice up my wardrobe.
Simple & Stylish Touches to add to your 2016 outfits:
- Manicured Nails
With so many nail polish varieties available today starting at as little as $1, this is a cheap and easy way to add a feminine and polished (no pun intended) look to any outfit, any day.
- Statement Purse
I am a firm believer that every woman needs one purse that can make any outfit stunning. It doesn’t matter whether it’s an investment piece or you found it in the sale rack at Target – as long as it’s an eye catcher and something you love. (In my opinion, the bigger the better!)
Perhaps the most popular fall and winter accessory, scarves are a blend of fashion and functionality. I rarely wear a coat without a scarf – not only does it keep my neck warm, it also adds a pop of color in a sea of muted winter colors.
Do you have a signature scent? If not, try a few different perfumes in sample sizes in order to determine which one best fits your personality. Call me old fashioned, but I think there is something so classy about wearing perfume, even on “casual” days.
- Accessorize, Accessorize, Accessorize
In case the above suggestions didn’t make it clear enough, accessories can go a long ways in making (or breaking!) your outfit. The wonderful thing about accessories is that they can take the simplest of outfits – a top and jeans – and turn it into a gorgeous ensemble. Don’t underestimate what adding an oversized watch, chunky bracelet or layered necklace can add to your look.
